[ Nier is thankful that Jun didn't have lasting damage or end up dying from that fight. He feels guilty for hurting everybody under the possession, but it seems like they can still heal with time. He quietly nods to himself and ponders alone while writing the next message. ]

I'm not bothered by the "not human" part, however...

I do work for the church, you know. Trading your immortal soul in order to gain a dark power is something we frown upon in general, I'm afraid.

[ Nier remembers how much pain he felt from Jun's attacks. That must be Jun's natural strength. He's a lot tougher than he looks.

Plus, Nier doesn't understand many things but he knows most people would think it's a bad idea to trade off your soul. ]

It's frustrating to be helpless so I agreed to the terms. That book called itself Grimoire Noir.

Does that name sound familiar?

[ It's possible that Jun might have heard of magical tomes called Grimoires before. He has his own magic. ]

Yes. I'm part of the Kronos Orden, an underground part of the church meant to deal with supernatural occurrences.

[But yeah, that story sounds about that. Evil sure loved to take advantage of people when they're desperate.]

Not specifically, no. But it sounds like something that'd be kept in the Sealed Library of the Orden.

I would really hope people don't just leave cursed books lying around. It's dangerous.

[ The church just keeps the weirdest things it seems. But Jun isn't just a student that likes anime. Nier has so many questions too and it seemed like everybody had something to hide. ]

[ Somethings don't change like Nier's inability to say names correctly the first time. The Korn order sounds very off and wrong.]

Yes, it is. That's why they're in the SEALED library. They're sealed away from people.

I said it sounds LIKE a book you'd find in there, not that I know for sure it was. Most likely, that book came from a different world than mine, so it was never in the library to begin with.

[ Jumping to conclusions is what he does best! Somehow Nier survived his med program while being a slow learner. He worked hard to make up for his weaknesses. So he might have to take time to understand this whole multiverse and magical realms thing too. ]

Oh....[ There's like a 5 min pause between his next messages because he finally understands it! Nier is having his moment of realization.]

What kind of life did you live before?

I bet it's different from what's going on here.

Well I lived in a nicer apartment for one. My living allowance with the Orden is much better than what I get paid as a maid.

Besides that, in a sense- there's a lot of similarities to what I'm doing now. Seal Knights are sent to places with reported supernatural incidents. Once we're there, we do our best to blend in with the locals - all while doing what we can to resolve the incidents without drawing attention to ourselves. Once everything is resolved, we move onto the next place.

Normally though, I handle cases in Japan. There's other Seal Knights who typically handle America. And I'd have a lot more access to resources through the Orden, while I don't have anything like that here.

Huh. That must be hard for you. I don't know what kind of things you experienced in this other world but you had a lot of jobs to do. You're helping people like me all the time.

Having no resources or even your other knights to fall back on...doesn't that make you feel lonely?

[ Nier thinks that Jun might miss his old companions and his fellow knights a lot. He's trying to sympathize with the situation to the best of his ability. ]

"Helping people like you" might be putting it strongly. Most possession cases end in the death of the possession victim. You were lucky it didn't come to that.

[And ah. That question. He pauses a little, because there's people he misses- but it isn't the other knights. But he does know that's a very complicated question that he has trouble vocalize how he feels about it (besides there's a weird feeling in his chest) so he'll just...evade]

Not sure. I haven't thought about it much.

Back then I had already accepted my death. Dying didn't seem scary to me and I thought it might come to that.

At any rate, I'm alive because you didn't abandon me.

[ It was a really close call. So Nier didn't die or end up hurting more people because of the possession. He's not alone and as long as he has friends he'll be fine. ]
