Breaking the laws of physics is one way it could present itself, yes. As for others ... several of the locals on the app are gaining unusual abilities and traits. None of the ones I asked remember ever experiencing anything supernatural before this. So it's possible there's been an increase of spiritual energy in the area, and the exposure to that is causing dormant abilities to manifest.
