[ A lot had occurred this month and there were revelations that Ledah found himself stumbling upon that had required more thought than he had anticipated.
Even with the big battle that resulted from certain actions seemed to be hardly troublesome to him. In fact, it had allowed him to feel freer somehow just by engaging in mindless fights. That being said, there were other matters to attend to.
Ledah knew that what had been revealed in that ancient civilization had affected most people obviously and upset them. It was clear from Rean's frustration to Sooga's passionate declaration upon finding out Forneus' intentions. And he knew Jun wouldn't be unaffected as well.
As the blond-haired angel sought Jun out, would he find him at Camp or elsewhere? ]
[Truth was, it wasn't always easy to find Jun. His teleportation power allowed him to move from place to place with more ease than most. Sometimes he'd stay in camp, other days he'd return to Mondstadt to tend after Minako's dog. Notably, even when he was around, he'd often keep his distance from others. Rarely was he in the middle of the conversations around the campfire.
Lucky for Ledah, he caught him at a time where he was in the camp, warming himself by the fire. He notices Ledah approaching him, and if he knows one thing about the angel- when he approaches, it's usually with a purpose]
[ Teleportation was a spell Ledah wished he had in his repertoire, but unfortunately, that was not to be.
Regardless, he took notice of his distance from others. It was notable because he proved himself capable of teamwork and the fact that Jun had approached him awhile back to offer him that compensation must have meant he had approached others. Which was something he must have done often, even when he wasn't being of assistance. Or so Ledah had concluded, wrongfully or not. ]
It's been awhile since we have last spoke. Most people had seemed beside themselves with what they learned.
Given this fact, I wondered if you were the same.
[ He's not very good at phrasing things elegantly, but truth be told, it's rare he's ever checked in on someone. But, Jun had given him consideration before, so he wanted to to do the same in return. ]
[Ah...so that's what it's about. Jun can't help but smile a little. Ledah really was a nice and thoughtful guy.]
Ha...so you were worried and wanted to check up on me, in other words.
[He speaks your language Ledah, he got you. He pauses at the question, actually giving it some thought]
It...wasn't an easy sight, even for me. I had put together the pieces of what was up there before we'd gotten there, but knowing it and seeing it firsthand are two different things.
[ Ledah wouldn't know how to respond to that, if it were said. But he's listening closely to hear what the other said, nodding ever so slightly in the affirmative. ]
I myself had been anticipating carnage, but in the traditional manner.
[ He thought he'd see evidence of a battle or struggle. But it was bothersome for other reasons beyond that; reasons he's sure Jun understood. ]
Though I have spent many years on the battlefield, I'll agree with you in that the state of the area wasn't something that could be easily brushed off.
I believe it'll be surprising if someone wasn't angered or disturbed by any of that.
[He's seen grisley sights before, becoming desensitized to things like that was part of his training. It'd be no good if a knight became sick or fainted over the sight of people ripped apart by Greed.
But what was up on that mountain...it was different. Especially knowing what did it wasn't a demon, but their own gods.
He's quiet for a moment, something on his mind. He's kept it to himself considering everyone's relatonships with gods was...complicated. But Ledah...he was in a similar position as him. Surely he'd understand...]
... I don't know what I'd do. If my God turned on me like that.
[ It's something Ledah's never even considered, until he saw all of this. The idea of his gods turning upon those who prayed to them seemed unthinkable, and it was. The gods literally gave a piece of themselves to create Grim Angels who would invariably serve their will. Their sacrifice was literally engraved onto his being. But even if he did not know this, he would still follow them willingly, with the utmost devotion—unwavering in his faith.
To even consider the thought they could be so cruel to condemn people who loved them so thoroughly was something that shook him, even though such a thing could never be possible.
He knew, however, if he were one of these people...he would likely been still praying in vain, in his final moments, unwilling to believe any of his gods had deserted him. ]
At first, I didn't know either, but...I thought about it for a long time when I had time to myself. And only then was I able to arrive at an answer.
[ But it was an unpleasant one, quite clearly. ]
Still, even now, it's hard for me to understand...that the gods could betray the people so devoted to them so easily. I can't imagine the gods I have ever served to be so pointlessly cruel or impetuous, no matter what measures must be taken in order to preserve the light in the world.
[Jun nods a little. Yeah. He thought Ledah would understand and help put things into perspective. ]
...Yeah, when you put it that way, I can't imagine my Lord doing something like this either.
[The Lord was full of endless compassion and forgiveness, and there was none to be found among Celestia. That thought alone consoles him a little. He wraps his arms around his legs]
I met Him once. Most humans never do, not directly anyway, but ... well, it's a long story. [One he can't share, as it'd expose too many secrets of the Orden] He was so ... warm and caring. It was so different from the priests that raised me. I barely understood what was happening, but I still found myself crying and never wanting it to end. [And He had let him cry it out, letting the battered child rest his head on His lap as He stroked his hair. ]
At the time, I was convinced that was just the natural reaction mortals have to their gods. It wouldn't be until years later that I came to understand that feeling was just what being loved felt like.
[Being around his friends had taught him that. The fact it took him until he was sixteen to piece it together was a tragedy, a sign of what he endured for most of his life. But at least things were improving.]
Celestia ... they don't feel that towards their people. [It was difficult and sad to fathom. ]
[ What's this? A package seems to have arrived in Jun's teapot. Opening the box would reveal another box within it, this time not made of paper but carved out of a single block of Noctilucous Jade. Pressing a button on its top face will make the box pop open and reveal a tuning pillar. The music box begins to play 'Happy Birthday'.
Once that song is over, a small holographic touchscreen appears below the tuning pillar. It seems the box is able to play a variety of anime songs. Is there an end to them? Hard to tell. ]
[It doesn't take him long to notice the package. While it was his birthday, he hadn't been expecting anything - just like most years. He hadn't even told most people it was his birthday besides Claude - and this didn't seem like his handiwork.
Well, opening up the package will resolve the mystery pretty quick- and add several more on top. This gift had to be from Forneus, no one else had access to technology like this. But why would he send him a gift? As far as Jun was concerned, their relationship was purely a professional one and Forneus already did well to fulfill his end of their contract. Extra kindnesses didn't cross Jun's mind. It was...unexpected.
Well, he'll certainly use the music box. Numerous times over the next few weeks he can be found in his teapot, listening to songs from a certain idol band more than anything else as he tends to the glaze lilies he planted or just sits by quietly - lost in thought.
Even a Seal Knight isn't fully immune to homesickness, it seems. ]
[Once he has calmed down and isn't in front of twenty other people, Lutha switches gears to trying to hunt down the kid that just blew their top at him during the meeting. This wasn't exactly a matter he wanted to leave stewing especially with a fight coming up, even if the idea of looking at Jun right now just made him sour.
So, unfortunately, the redhead is hunting down the little godly knight. Given that teleport ability, he thinks his chances are pretty slim... but he might as well make some sort of attempt.]
[Jun is pretty tricky to track down, though not because of the teleporting exactly. No, it's more his tendency to hang out on roofs when he feels particularly stressed or worn out.
So on the ground, there's no sign of Jun. But as Lutha passes an empty house, he might hear the faint sound of a pop song coming from somewhere.
Or rather it's Jun sitting on a roof and listening to a music box Forneus gave him to undwind, unaware that Lutha is looking for him]
Well, he HEARS that, just barely, but he is having such a hard time pinpointing where the hell it's coming from that he has to take a second to backtrack, even trying to take a peek through one of the windows.]
Hello? [There is LITERALLY no one here, where the hell is that music coming from.]
He hears that voice, and it makes him press pause on the music. It's not easy to identify from one word along who it is, so he'll move to look over the roof and-
Oh. Him.
His tone is flat when he speaks. He's willing to see if this is mission related, but it's not like Seal Knights are known for their friendly customer service.]
[Because he can and will open his big mouth regardless, thank you very much.]
You can tell me to fuck off if you don't want to hear me out. But I'd rather we not keep getting into pissing matches over stupid shit if you're that angry about what happened with Sooga.
Jun is a quiet for a moment, considering. Then he carefully pockets the music box, stands up, and jumps off the roof. Despite it being a good ten feet drop that any normal person would get injured by, he lands on his feet with perfect grace in front of Lutha. ]
[Rean wasn't really sure what to do after everything that happened at the group meeting, but now that he's bounced some of his own feelings off of his feelings-deficient boyfriend (it's wild how much that helps, despite all odds), he at least has some idea of how to move forward.
Step one is seeking out Jun. Thankfully, it's not too hard to find a teenager with green hair, so once Rean's located him, he calls out.]
Jun! Hey!
[Once he's got his attention, he picks up his pace a little so that he can get close enough to actually hold a conversation without everyone overhearing.]
Got a minute?
[He's doing his best to sound open and friendly— he doesn't want Jun thinking he's about to get a lecture, because that's not Rean's goal here. ...Well, it might wind up as a speech anyway, it's Rean, but the point is that Rean's not angry.]
[After talking to Lutha and August, Jun was about ready to find another rooftop to spend time on. Luckily, Rean catches him before he finds a proper one. He looks back, eyes open in an owlish manner]
Rean?
[Rean sounds friendly but...Rean is also a teacher. So this could go either way, in Jun's eyes.]
You did what you did because it's something you believe in. Not for the sake of the mission, but for your own feelings.
[Rean smiles at him, gently.]
This will probably be embarrassing, coming from me and all, but I'm really proud of you for standing up like that. And I know doing something like that can take its toll, so I really did want to see if you were holding up okay now that it's over.
